Today is the day American’ have been waiting for decades … the chance and opportunity for equality to the races. It comes a day after the Martin Luther King Day celebration, but today will launch pages and even chapters into history books for all kids great and small.
I have to say that I am surprised this has become such a large media circus not to mention the millions of people who are attending the inaugural address. I am sure it will be highly notable and quotable in the very distant hours … and will light up the Youtube and facebook pages with famous bits.
I don’t recall this much attention on anything that has happened in our nation since the passing (untimely as it was) of Anna Nicole Smith. The media was non-stop for minutes, hours and even days.
I am proud to be an American, and proud of this moment that is at the footstep of my door of life, but I am certain that this is not hitting me like it is others who have had greater struggles and have had to repress long standing historical consequences by being the wrong race at the wrong time … so today (as most companies and people are taking off to see the speech) know that history is in the making.
