This weekend was jam packed with activities or so it felt like it to me.
Saturday was dominated by the football game. The trip to Ann Arbor was full of great conversation and fairly acceptable weather. The game was a gentle mist, as if I was at a spa, and the outcome of a win and a better complexion was welcomed.
Sunday I attended what I will call the Festival of Bees. I have never in my entire life saw so many bees in a field in my entire life. It was the annual Pioneer Festival in Huntington, Indiana. Think Johnny Appleseed its second year, and this is what this festival was. Very rustic, very historic and very populated with bees. I enjoyed a fresh apple fritter but enjoyed the smells and scents of the many other festival favorites. Purchased a few gourds and pumpkins, all under 5 bucks and after about an hour, we departed the festival. It was not before we saw a mighty woman wrestle a sheep to the ground, lumped him onto a wood plank and shave him.
Now I am all about good wool, but I have never seen this in action before. Trust me, it was an eyeful. This woman talked about putting her foot on his leg or shoulder or something so it didn't move. Trust me, this woman could just lean into the sheep and it would have stopped dead in its tracks. Children that were around this demonstration seemed just as shocked as I.
Finally, we went to get dog food and stopped at 800 degrees for some wonderful pizza. If you have not been to 800 degrees, located on the corner of Lima Road and Dupont then you are missing out. Great crust, good topping selections and the staff is friendly. Split a pizza, eating a personal pizza as they claim is not a good idea. We split this along with a salad and left with a take away box.
