Today is my favorite holiday of all the holidays which we celebrate. As I sit down this morning with my cup of chocolate graham cracker coco, just cause I am that kind of guy, I give my many thanks to a year that has been unlike any other. Our nation is radically different and the work place climate is much more intense, even stressful, as every company has tightened their belts or even got rid of the pants that the belts were holding up, yet today we all have found a reason to say "thank you". Yes, even you (and you know who you are ... you have reason to say thanks).
Now for me, I am not where I wanted to be - I wish I was with my family around a big table with all the fixings and the turkey that was cooked in the roaster that has been in the family for years. With the cranberry salad that I normally would take home and eat for the next week. The countless portions of appetizers that held us over until the bird turned brown. Even that dreadful parade, that was always on, yet no one seemed to watch much of ...The touches that made this holiday more important than Christmas or Easter even Arbor Day ... but we have all grown up, we have all moved around, we have all developed our own traditions. Not sure I have embraced all this change, politically or personally.
I am thankful that I have a home that really has become everything I had every dreamed of ... I am thankful for the friends that surround me daily and some that I only get to see annually... I am thankful for the new experiences that this year has bestowed upon me ... I am so thankful for the vast music collection that gives me wisdom and comfort with click of the button ... I am at peace, I am complete and I am thankful.
I hope this Thanksgiving Day brings you to a reflective moment where you can only find the blessings. Near or far, with us or without us, we will make this a grand day.
