Recently while watching a program on television, where a school teacher in California was wanting a second home in Italy for under $100,000 (US money) found a fairly decent, livable unit in a village town.
I have to say, as I watched this program, I so wanted to be her. Every since I went to Italy a few years ago, I have in the back of my mind thought I really hope to live there some day. I could see myself working in a bakery or a gelato shop - with the headaches and pressures that any person feels with managing people, places and things.
Perhaps it is just a romantic vision of life. Simple life. That is the one thing I walked away from, that no one seemed to be in a rush to get anywhere. I enjoyed the historic element, the novelty simplicity. I even went as far to look at homes for sale in Italy. I am sure that it is just a dream. I have family, work and friends that I am sure would be strong magnetic pulls here in the states, but there is something in me, now, that finds the concept of living in Italy breathtaking.
Until then, I will just make pasta and sip lemoncello until I act upon that crazy impulse.

Re: Pipe Dream
Hi Mark, My daughter is doing just that. She landed an internship in Siena, Italy, ( Tuscany! ) for 6 months. If there is a will, there is a way. She will be home around Christmas & will be living the dream, starting in a few days. And yes, we're going to visit in the fall!
