Friday evening, we had dinner at Chop's.
I have yet to have a bad meal at Chop's. Friday evening was no exception. It is always consistent. Friendly wait staff, and you can almost always count on seeing Chuck or Kara working the room. Friday night, it was Chuck. I, personally, do not know them or rather, I should say, they don't know who I am. I obviously know who they are lol.
Our evening meal was with a very special friend, Sandy, and we actually had a two hour dinner and conversation. This was actually a short evening. Normally my evenings with Sandy are at least three hours.
I had the New York Strip steak, and clam chowder. The chowder was simply one of the best I have had since I was in Maine last summer. The clam chowder had generous and sizable portions of clam and it was the perfect temperature to enjoy and maintain being warm the entire time I ate it.
Sandy enjoyed the walleye and Tim had the scallops. I was the only one who was in the clean plate society, while they both took home the generous portions they had in front of them. Of course, no meal is complete without dessert and we had a dessert sampler that consisted of key lime pie and blueberry cheesecake. Once we wiped the plate clean, we voted the blueberry cheesecake the winner.
On a Friday evening, the noise level can raise a bit over most other evenings in Chop's but I think this is what helps to transform the strip mall location into a property that could be transformed into a city brownstone in a large city. The artwork, the closeness of the tables and the open exposed kitchen make for a true delight when dining out in Fort Wayne. Great meal, Great friends ... Great times.
